Niko nije bio iznenadjen više od mene dok sam šetala ribljom pijacom u centru grada i spazila male somove . Zašto? Pa sve ove godine koliko živimo ovde od rečne ribe se mogla naći samo pastrmaka. I evo posle svih tih godina najzad da probamo i ovu ribu.
Uz to starinska salata od krompira, kakvu je pravila moja baka, vrlo jednostavna bez mnogo fila
Za somovinu
750 grama ribe
Mešavina zaćina
300 g Panko mrvica
2 jaja
Ulje za prženje
500 ml mleka
Mešavina začina
so, suv peršun,crni i beli luk u prahu, mleveno seme senfa,aleva paprika, mirodjija timijan i sveže mleven crni biber
Krompir Salata
500 g krompira
1 crveni luk
1 struk mladog luka
ulje, sirće , po ukusu
so i biber
Priprema ribe
Ako to već nisu učinili gde ste je kupili, ribu operete i očistite
Mnogi odseku glavu, peraja , ja ne
Ribu prvu potopim u mleko i ostavim u frižideru oko sat vremena. Ovo odstarni sve eventualne mirise koji nisu riblji.
Zatim ocedim , uvaljam ulupana jaja, pa u Panko mrvice i pržim u ulju, koje je prethodno zagrejano do 185 stepeni Celzija.
Pržim oko 7 minuta sa svake strane. Ova riba je mala, naravno ako imate neku sominu onda treba duže.
Priprema Salate od krompira
Krompir skuvamo .. Ako imaate mlad krompir kao ja ovde, onda ga ne morate ljuštiti. I ako je naravno neprskan.
Kad je skuvan rasečemo na četvrtinke
Crveni luk isečemo na tanke kolutove. Zasolimo i pobiberimo po ukusu, dodamo sirće i ulje i na kraju sitno seckani zeleni luk.

Fried catfish and potato salad
After living in NZ for all these years we could only find trout from river fish. Can you imagine my joy when walking another day on the fish market in downtown Auckland harbor I spotted catfish.
I fried it whole with skin and head.
As a side dish, I made potato salad, simple with few ingredients, the same way as my grandmother used to do it.
It was the best meal I had in a long time. Or were the memories the main ingredient?
Ingredients fish
750 gr catfish
Rub (dried herbs, parsley, thyme, dill, salt pepper, paprika, onion and garlic powder)
Oil for frying ( I used peanut oil)
500 ml milk
300 g of Panko crumbs
2 beaten eggs
Potato salad
500 g potatoes ( small)
1 red onion thinly sliced,
salt, pepper to taste
oil and white wine vinegar
Create
First I put the catfish in milk and leave it about 1 hour in the fridge. That makes sure that any other aromas than the fish ones are gone.
After that rub it thoroughly in and leave for another hour in the fridge.
Heat the oil in deep pan to approx 180 Degrees Celsius.
Put the fish through beaten egg than through Pano breadcrumbs.
Fry each side for about 7 minutes. If you have bigger fish it takes longer.
Potato salad
Boil the potatoes. If you have, like me here untreated potatoes do not peel them
When done, cut in quarters.
Slice red onion very thin and add. Salt, pepper, oil and white wine vinegar. Done
